After a long reflection on the collective pain we

After a long reflection on the collective pain we are going through together, ‘Healing process' was born. A minimalist, intimate series of words where I've put my heart and soul into representing the four scientific stages of a healing wound from a perspective of collective trauma. As I and so many of us move through stage one together.
I don't when stage two will come.
For now, I focus on stage one: stopping the bleeding and compressing the wound.

During the process of trying to understand our pain I reached out to folks on social media to find which word helped them to get through 2020. From the answers, I create the words used in this series.

Each artwork is handmade and unique due to the organic nature of threads, stamping and paint.

I was invited by curator Alicia Puig @pxpcontemporary to participate in her special collection for @showfields in NYC.

She will be live tomorrow to talk about 12 women artists selected. Three pieces from my series ‘Black Iconography’ will be available for sale.

Yesterday I moved out from my art studio to re-start things from my bedroom. For a long time I thought this was a step back, but yesterday I realised It’s a step forward.

What holds us together are the stories of the fabrics and threads.
From the embroiderer and the seamstress. From the cotton fields.
The women of my family and so many other families. .

O que nos segura são as histórias dos tecidos e fios.
Da bordadeira, da passadeira, da costureira. Os campos de algodão.
As mulheres da minha e tantas outras famílias.
