Project Info
Clandestinas is a performance and installation composed of photographs, yarn and wire hangers, in memory of all women who died due to unsafe abortion practices.
The wire hanger symbolises death, It is one of the objects used in unsafe abortion practices. The resumption of this debate in Brazil was Nina’s inspiration for the work: the pressure of civil society, the churches, the ultra-conservative congress that prevent real advances, and meanwhile, more than 200 women enter for annual statistics of deaths by illegal abortion practices.
